The WildChina hiking trails are categorized into four difficulty levels to help travelers choose suitable routes based on their experience and fitness.
Each level progressively demands more physical fitness and outdoor skills, ensuring that hikers can find a suitable challenge.
Suitability really depends. Some hikes are more challenging than others, and some may not be appropriate for young children. We recommend checking the difficulty of the hike you’re interested in, considering your child’s experience and fitness level, and talking to your child about the hike and their level of comfort before making your decision.
If you are unsure whether a particular hike is suitable for your child, you can always contact info@wildchina.com for more information.
To sign up for the hike, simply fill out the inquiry form or send an email to info@wildchina.com to secure your spot.
Enjoy the freedom of hiking light. WildChina will seamlessly transfer your luggage between each night’s accommodation (including camping site), allowing you to pack only the essentials for your daily adventures.
Accommodation will be arranged as stated in the itinerary. For some trails with the unique opportunity to camp amidst breathtaking natural beauty, we will provide all essential camping gear ensuring a comfortable and memorable experience. (See the Camping section for details on the equipment provided.)
Packing smart is the key to a truly enjoyable trekking experience! Mountain weather can be unpredictable, so layering is essential. Start with a moisture-wicking base layer to stay dry (avoid wearing cotton directly), add an insulating mid-layer for warmth, and finish with a waterproof shell to fend off unexpected showers or misty mountain air.
Long pants are your best friend on the trail whatever the season. Lightweight, breathable fabrics are perfect for summer, while the addition of thermal underwear beneath your pants will keep you cozy in winter.
And don’t forget a hat, gloves and sunglasses to keep you comfortable and protected during your hike.
Sturdy hiking boots are highly recommended. They provide the ankle support and traction needed for navigating varied terrain. While comfortable sneakers might be suitable for less demanding trails, the rugged nature of this trek calls for the durability and protection of hiking boots.
Choose moisture-wicking hiking socks that provide cushioning and support. Bringing several pairs allows you to change into dry socks each day, minimizing the risk of blisters. Avoid cotton socks, as they retain moisture and can contribute to discomfort.
For relaxing at your accommodations, pack a pair of comfortable slippers or sandals. This will allow your hiking boots to air out, ready for the next day’s adventure.
We don’t recommend bringing drones on the hike due to potential no-fly zones and the added weight they contribute to your backpack.
Food will be provided as stated in the itinerary. If you have any dietary restrictions or preferences, please let us know before your trip.
Don’t worry about bringing water, we’ll take care of that. However, please make sure to bring yourself a reusable water bottle with a capacity of 1-2 liters. This will allow you to easily stay hydrated throughout the hike and refill as needed.
While not a luxurious glamping experience, WildChina’s camping experiences are designed for comfort and offer a deep connection with nature. Depending on the specific trail you’ve chosen, you might find yourself camping in a variety of stunning locations, from high-altitude meadows with breathtaking mountain views to sheltered spots nestled beside a whispering river – it’s an experience you won’t soon forget.

Rest assured, the WildChina team takes safety seriously. Our experienced guides will lead the way, ensuring you stay on marked trails and avoid hazards like loose rocks, cliffs, and wildlife. They’ll also carry map, compass, GPS device, first-aid kit, and prtable oxygen canister for emergencies. However, we encourage you to always inform someone of your hiking plans, including your route and expected return time. This extra precaution ensures everyone knows your whereabouts and can assist if needed.
The campsites are carefully chosen in safe locations away from unknown territory. Our experienced guides will expertly set up your tent on level ground and secure it properly. To avoid attracting wildlife, food and scented items will be stored away from your tent. If you bring your own food, please keep it sealed when not in use. Remember to keep your campsite clean and dispose of waste responsibly.
In case of an emergency, stay calm and call your WildChina guide for help. Our guides will always bring a first-aid kit on the hike and camping trip. They know how to use the first-aid kit and are prepared to treat minor injuries. If you have any serious injuries, they will assist in calling for emergency medical assistance. Remember, safety is your top priority when hiking and camping.
We’ll check the weather forecast before you go and be prepared for any changes. Please understand that if the weather is severe, we might need to delay or cancel the trip.
While exploring the outdoors, encounters with wild animals are a possibility. To minimize risks, we carefully plan our trips to avoid peak activity seasons of these animals. In addition, our guides are prepared to manage such scenarios. Kindly maintain a safe distance behind your guide, ensuring a gap of over 2 meters to mitigate potential risks.
At WildChina, we believe in treading lightly and respectfully as we explore the world’s wonders. We call it our shared “trail etiquette,” a set of guidelines to ensure a positive impact and a truly enriching experience for everyone.
Respect nature: Let’s leave the trails even more pristine than we found them. Pack out everything you pack in, stay on marked trails to minimize our impact, and avoid disturbing the local flora and fauna. Remember, we’re guests in this beautiful environment.
Safety first: Your safety is our priority. Listen carefully to your guide’s instructions, stay within the group, and inform your guide immediately if you experience any difficulties.
Group harmony: Trekking is a shared experience, so let’s be mindful of our fellow adventurers. Maintain a reasonable pace, be encouraging and supportive, and share the trail respectfully.
Local customs: We’ll be traveling through areas rich in culture and tradition. Let’s be respectful of local customs and traditions, and embrace the opportunity to learn about the communities we encounter.
These guidelines are our shared commitment to responsible and meaningful travel. With them in mind, we’re ready for an unforgettable adventure!
