WildChina is thrilled to announce a new direction for WildChina philanthropy with our partnership with Teach for China. Teach for China is an organization that recruits young, high-quality leaders from the United States and China to teach in high-poverty communities across the nation’s rural provinces. As part of WildChina’s commitment to sustainability, we are honored to support Teach for China in its mission to improve the lives of Chinese children.

As the founder of Teach for China, Andrea Pastinetti explains the union between Teach for China and WildChina is a natural one: “Both organizations believe in the transformational power of meaningful experiences, both organizations know that peoples’ differences are less profound than their interactions might suggest, and both organizations believe in the fundamental importance of sustainable growth and development.” WildChina founder Zhang Mei has a personal interest in this partnership having come from a rural Chinese town herself. Only through education was Mei able to propel herself to Harvard Business School and tackle the challenges of founding her own company. Mei’s story is the exception though, not the rule; she knows the importance of improving educational opportunities and the quality of teaching in areas like her hometown.

WildChina will be supporting Teach for China by sponsoring a teacher each year. This year, we have the honor of funding the teaching efforts of an American from West Virginia (and former WildChina intern!) named David Li. To support David, click on the link on the right-hand side of our WildChina Philanthropy page and take a step towards improving education in China.
