Artisans of China: set down your loom and put down your paint brush because it’s time to listen up – Beshan Gāi, our celebration of artisan culture is returning for 2016 and we have 2 event scholarships to give away!
Beshan Gāi is a celebration of artisan culture in the form of a curated pop-up bazaar. The event brings together a selection of hand-crafted treasures from all corners of China and beyond right to the heart of Beijing. From vendors, to theming, to F&B and entertainment, the experience is a carefully curated feast for the senses and features experiential elements where visitors can interact with artisans at work, transporting them right into their workshops and studios.
Over 2,000 visitors attended the inaugural Beshan Gāi held in The Opposite House in September 2015 and this year, the bazaar will return as a 3-day moving exhibition across different venues in Beijing. We are passionate about giving as many of China’s talented craftsmen and women as possible the opportunity to showcase their work and that is why we are offering 2 scholarships for artisans that we feel reflect artisan China at its best.
How does it work?
A Beshan Gāi scholarship from WildChina not only guarantees your place at the bazaar but it also covers your entire registration fee. On top of that, you will also be given a special editorial feature in the 2016 Beshan Gāi catalog – an event magazine that will be distributed in partnership with Time Out Beijing, alongside 10,000 targeted copies of their September issue.
The WildChina Artisan Scholarship
After applications close, WildChina will review the submissions and select one artisan, that we feel deserves to be showcased, to be awarded an Artisan Scholarship.
The People’s Choice Scholarship
We also want you to have your say and so the second scholarship will be awarded by the public, through a people’s choice vote. The vote will take place on the Chinese App WeChat and everyone is encouraged to have their say.
What are you waiting for? Artisans, you have just one week (July 30th – Aug 6th 2016) to apply for a WildChina Beshan Gāi scholarship.
