We’re excited to announce that WildChina’s Founder Mei Zhang has been shortlisted for a 2018 PURE Award – in the category of “Contribution to Experiential Travel.”
PURE Life Experiences is a global community of the travel industry’s most innovative high-end travel suppliers (like WildChina), accomplished private travel designers, and internationally renowned media personnel. Each year this community gathers together in Morocco to re-imagine the role of high-end, experiential travel in positively impacting conservation efforts and transforming lives.
The PURE Awards are a celebration of the community and an expert judging panel has whittled down over 300 entries to create the final shortlist.

The award that Mei is shortlisted for celebrates individuals whose efforts have “directly influenced the development of the experiential travel movement – a true maverick whose commitment, curiosity and daring sets new standards for the industry at large.”
Why was she nominated?
18 years ago, Mei Zhang founded WildChina and pioneered luxury experiential travel in the Middle Kingdom. Since then, she has continued to be a driving force in the promotion of sustainable and experiential travel. Most recently, Mei created the ‘WildChina Academy’, a series of Chinese language online courses and offline events that teach young travel entrepreneurs how to curate “organic travel experiences” – those that are immersive and meaningful, without necessarily focusing on volume.
