A Beginner’s Guide to Classical Music with Guo Jianying: Part 2 [in Mandarin] (Event #19)

Have you always wanted to learn more about classical music, but not known where to start? This four-part beginner series led by Guo Jianying (郭建英), classical music enthusiast, is an easy way to jumpstart your discovery into this musical genre through some of its major works.

In this second installment of our Beginner’s Guide to Classical Music, we continue with Beethoven’s famous Appassionata, Piano Sonata No. 23 in F minor, Op. 57.

 郭建英 Guo Jianying

Born in Beijing in 1953, Guo Jianying obtained a bachelor’s and master’s degree in computer engineering and science from Tsinghua University and Peking University respectively. He has always had a deep interest in music appreciation and anthropology and has widely studied works in the fields of philosophy and aesthetics. He also co-translated Wagner and Philosophy by Bryan Magee into Chinese, and most recently, completed the translation of There Is Only Noise Left, Listen To The 20th Century by Alex Ross.
